UPDATED 5-Aug-08 to add 8:00 service
Fred McKinnon is starting an experiment called 'Setlist Carnival' where you post your song service setlist for the week and link back to his site. The goal is to see what others are doing in order to help with our own planning and whatnot.

Transparency
What's the word 'transparency' mean to you? Not that a piece of window glass is transparent, but who you are being transparent to those around you? I'm cooking thoughts on this one - more later.

Mac wins
I just read this post at Cult of Mac. The lead architect of Microsoft's Windows 95, 98 and Internet Explorer 3 and 4 now is a Mac aficionado, and has left Microsoft to start his own firm developing for the Mac platform full-time.
On the one hand I think it's poetic justice that he ditched the abomination he was partly responsible for foisting on the rest of us for the superior platform. On the other, though, my dark side thinks he ought to serve penance by being forced to use a 486-66 with Windows95 and IE3.

Gear
My greatest passion in life is music. If I'm not listening to or playing music, I want to be. My instrument of choice is the guitar, though sometimes I'll play bass guitar and really enjoy that as well. As I've progressed in my learning and playing of the instrument, I've acquired tastes in tone which translates to the gear I use when playing. When it comes to finding that gear, I rely on the good folks at ToneFactor.
Tonefactor not only carries the best names in the industry for guitar and bass effects, they also have 2 in-house brands and have the best service in the industry. If you need a new dirt sound, want a better phaser, need a good delay, or want to experiment, take a look.
There's a very active community there of great folks on their own tonequest that are more than willing to share their experiences with pedals and bounce ideas of off. Also, Brad just recently added a YouTube page when he records demos of pedals - including some side-by-side comparisons. If you want to hear, say a Fulltone '70 compared to a Lovepedal 200lbs, just ask at the forums.
I know this sounds like a commercial, and in reality I suppose it is. I just love doing business with Brad and being involved in the community there, and want to spread the word to help him grow because I really believe he's the best in the business.
In future posts, I'll detail the gear I have, in the meantime, happy tone-hunt!

Trying out ScribeFire
For you Firefox users who blog, check out the ScribeFire addon. It adds a status bar icon that when you click on it brings up a blog post editor. So far it looks very usable, and has more immediate features than the blogger post editor.
